The new trailer for Ridley Scotts exodus movie is out and it looks like theyre going the mythical route with it. The thing that always gets me about these kinds of movies is it seems hard to have a movie in which youre both an underdog and you also have a literal god on your side. Its like ok, so god was cool with your people being made slaves for four hundred years, but now hes back from his lunch break and he is not pleased. But how are you an underdog if your primary ally controls all of reality? Moses isnt an underdog, hes the worlds worst version of My dad can beat up your dad. And then his dad does beat up the other kids dad, and worse, he beats the shit out of the other kid too, and kills that kids kid. Just seems kind of rude. At the end of the day, isnt god kind of a dick for letting all those people go to war and die and be enslaved and only THEN does he jump in and throw around his weight? I mean the 10 plagues are great magic tricks and all, but as long as youre intervening, why not just stick your face through a cloud or two and say Hey! Kids, knock it off, the neighbors are complaining about the noise! Dont you make me come down there, you do not want to see Buddha when he misses his afternoon nap. I know I know, why didnt I become a theologian like my parents wanted? Sorry dudes, Im not in it for the money.
