The next court hearing about the establishment of a planning body - TopicsExpress

The next court hearing about the establishment of a planning body for the city is tomorrow. After a very long push in the courts, it has come to the point where the HC is asking the government why it has not set up a proper planning agency as required in the Constitution, and also asking why it is trying to bypass the law by setting up a Congress MLAs committee for the city, excluding the Mayor and any representatives from city council. Clearing up this mess is important to putting city governance on firm footing. We have gone more than two decades without proper city planning. The last two Master Plans have been a disaster, and the current one is being carried out more like a cartel contract between BDA and its friendly contractors. At this rate, we can only expect more of the same madness that befell the last 20 years. Rajeev Gowda Nandan Nilekani Katte Sathya Rajeev Chandrasekhar, MP
