Bolton School Boys Division Grammar schools that have an entrance exam are highly featured in the main table from which the above is taken. They have a strong presence in the region, led by those in Trafford. The best results in a state school are found at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls which is the biggest girls school in the country. The Sunday Times comments that with the two major cities of Manchester and Liverpool and affluent Cheshire there is a strong private school market in the northwest. Withington Girls School, in Manchester, is highly selective and successful in that more than 90% of its pupils go on to a Russell Group university.
