The notion that one should cheer for whichever Canadian team makes it furthest takes the fun out of hockey. Rivalries are a big part of the game. If youre a Sens fan (assuming they exist), cheer against your regional rivals. If youre a Leafs fan, cheer against the Habs. Thats how its supposed to work. Yankees fans dont cheer for the Red Sox. Im going to kind of undermine my own rule by cheering for the Rangers. They are the Isles cross-town rivals, but I also have a lingering attachment to the Rangers (from my days cheering on Chris Drury) and Im not a part of that cultural milieu (so hypocrisy is more acceptable...). Hopefully its a good series. Neither will break their 20 year droughts, but at least one of them will string their fans along far enough to have their hearts bulldozed by the Kings or Hawks.
