The topic of animal emotions is still very controversial. Animal lovers and most pet owners would say for certain animals have emotions. Many scientists are still iffy about it. Perhaps not iffy, but cautious. Because it needs to be proven and that is very difficult to do. Also, ethologists receive a lot of opposition from psychologists - this has made research into this topic go at a glacial pace. But Frans de Waal - Public Page has never been one to shy away from hot topics. If you dont know his research on primates you really should. I would love the opportunity to work with him. Here is his latest offering on insights into primate emotions, studying one of my favourite primate species, bonobos.
