The topic of storage sheds was the most time consuming topic of our meeting (that adjourned at 9:15). The question is, should we allow citizens on corner lots to place storage sheds anywhere on their second front yard? (Corner lots have two front yards; the second front yard is the non-address front yard). One slide we saw had a shed that bordered the adjacent sidewalk. The home also had a six foot privacy fence along the length of the sidewalk (it is on the corner of McAdams and Ohio if you are in the neighborhood). Granted, enforcement has been spotty concerning this issue, allowing the proliferation of sheds being placed anywhere the owner chooses. My argument is that if we do not enforce our ordinance, we allow a subset of citizens to determine what our policy for storage sheds should be. I do not think that is healthy for our community. We are considering allowing leniency on the placement of sheds on the second front yard, but requiring a six foot privacy fence around the yard so that the shed is not as visible. We sent the question back to the planning commission for a re-examination of the issue. Also, Yvonne Gibbons was recognized this week as the recipient of the 2013 Dorothy Woodin Award (translation: best nurse ever award). Lastly, Country Club Park will be receiving new playground equipment soon. If it looks like the drawing, it will be green and gold--I thought that was Mustang country...
