The old Brazos, once known as the Roaring Lion, by the early day - TopicsExpress

The old Brazos, once known as the Roaring Lion, by the early day Germans living in Rhineland, is finally on the warpath once again!! It is so good to see that rolling foam in the middle of the churning water, a sign that the old prairie stream is still rising. As a child, I recall lying at the foot of my bed at night and listening to the rumbling water of the Brazos, only one mile from our house, as it channeled the big rains from the cap rock country. The roaring water and fragrance of moisture riding on the nocturnal winds made an impression on me. The croaking toads, chirping crickets and occasional yelp of a coyote was music to my young ears. In a day or so Rick is going to put his Kayak in the swirling water and ride the current from the Benjamin/Knox City bridge and on to the Rhineland bridge. I plan to take the Phantom 2 Quad Chopper and shoot video along a short stretch of his travels. Yep, its good to see the old Roaring Lion flexing his muscles once again. Its been too long...way too long.
