The on-going power struggle between Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele and the - TopicsExpress

The on-going power struggle between Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele and the executive governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Kayode Fayeyemi is getting nastier every day and fast becoming a political embarrassment for these two brothers. There is no question in my mind that these two brothers are terrific public servants but the way these two brothers have been assassinating each other characters in the past few months is disturbing. It is really sad to see these two brothers engaging in unnecessary smear campaign against each other at a time when their main focus should be on how to implement the forward looking policies of their party. Primary elections should be a weapon to re-strengthen internal democracy in a civilized political party and not a tool for do or die politics. These two brothers can impress voters by talking about their track record of service and unveil their plans for the future without resulting in smear campaign. Ekiti people are concern about how to send their children to school, how to put food in their tables and not about the next election. The time is now for these two brothers to put people first and stop protecting their political future. It’s being funny to see these two brothers who criticized the last administration for engaging in politics of anything goes now doing the same thing. It is so unfortunate that some pundits, negative ads peddlers, the spine masters are exploiting the on-going political fight between these two brothers to create unnecessary political tension in Ekiti State but I got a message for them, the good people of Ekiti State have experienced one political crisis after another over the years, they knew the net implication of a widespread political violence and not ready to go back to those dark days. Ekiti people want their public office holders to work together in creating positive change and not engaging in unnecessary hyper- partisan politics. However, there is this silly debate about whether Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele is having the necessary political credentials to be the governor of Ekiti State or morally qualified to serve in that capacity but here is the point, it is just a plain foolishness for someone to argue that the ex-NANS president, a person with a good track record of service in Lagos state is not qualify to be the governor of Ekiti State. In my own judgment Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele is more than qualify to serve in any capacity in Ekiti state going by his political credentials and it is up to Ekiti people to decide who is qualify to serve them. However, it is outrageous the way some supporters of Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele is trying to blame governor Kayode Fayemi for everything that happens to Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele . It is my believe that Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele is not expecting to get things easily and readily prepared to face any fair and reasonable political challenge during and after this election season. Lastly, some progressives have been criticizing governor Kayode Fayemi for not doing enough to improve the living standard of Ekiti people and I so much appreciate their legitimate concerns but we need to make a choice and the choice in the next election is to choose between these two brothers or go back to the era of a brutal dictator like Mr. Ayo Fayose. We can’t have a just and better society overnight, it is a piece meal process and the best way to start is to begin throwing our support behind those that shares some of our values, they might not be the best candidate but a better alternative.
