The one that devours The old man walked through the dark halls - TopicsExpress

The one that devours The old man walked through the dark halls of the manor, the place only lit by the moonlight shining through the giant windows. He held the brown paper wrapped package close to his chest, knocking on the ancient looking door to his employers study. The heavy door swung open by itself to reveal a room lit with a blaze inside a fireplace, furnished with fine chairs and books. The blaze caused long, dark shadows across the room, making it seem much more ominous. The carpet was lush and think, but seemed to be worn with age. Are you going to come in, or just stand there all day? The voice that called was one seemed to be filled with honey, but laced with poison. The old man crape into the room, towards the chair where the back of his employers head was visible. Ill come in when I feel like it mlord Calrin. Please, call me Naxus my dear Grenly. All my friends do. The man rose from his chair to face the old man. Grenly was once again astonished at the man before him. Raven hair that was slicked back, cold, unfeeling eyes, and pale skin. A tall, slender frame, matched by a slender face. An artists work, if Grenly ever saw one. Do you have the book? called the man named Naxus, who walked to a table and began pouring wine into two crystal glasses. Maybe I do, maybe I dont. I want my payment first. Oh Grenly... You daft old man. Naxus chuckled as he walked to the old man, who had made himself at home in one of the plush chairs. He handed Grenly a glass before sipping on the fine red liquid himself. I may be daft, but I still now how to wager. I want another 1000 gold. This book was hard to come across. Had to take it from a whore. Last precious thing she had apparently. I dont care for the details. And fine, Ill give you more gold. Gods know I have plenty. Now, may I see the book? Lord Calrin held out a silk gloved hand, smiling as the book was rested into it. He tore open the paper as Grenly took his leave, glass in hand and a smile on his face. Grenly giggled as he downed the wine, making his way through the courtyard. Daft my arse! I sure showed him, mister high and mighty! He patted the book in his smugglers vest. It had been a long time since he needed to use the moth-eaten thing, but it sure paid off. After reading a few pages, Naxus frowned and toss the book into the fire. 16000 gold for a fake book... Old man must be please of himself. And takes me as a fool. Oh well. He shall be punished. Naxus looked down at the onyx gem nestled in his necklace. Oh Namir, be a dear and bring me my book. And my glass. A dark shadow, as if darkening the whole room, appeared beneath the lord. A cold voice responded. Very well. Anything else? A snake would have shivered, the dead would have turned, and demons chilled at the smirk and glare of the genie wielder. Yes actually... His head. ------------------------------------------ The fire sizzled at the burning meat rested inside of it, a gaze of horror cast upon it. Naxus looked at the fire and gave a sincere smile, the book resting on the table next to him. He looked at the genie that rested in another chair, now in his humanoid form. Almost as tall, with skin as pale as Naxuss, and a strong build. So, did my crows bring any news? You were right. All of them seem to be heading to the tournament. Adria? Yes. We have confirmation on that. Good... Pack my clothes, my cloak, and my rapier. Were going to the capital, Rosen. With a nod, the genie seemed to melt into a shadow, quickly moving out of the room. Naxus chuckled as he picked up the book he had received. He decided to start reading, crossing his legs as he opened it. On the front, on ancient letters, one could read the words scrawled on the front, thanks to the fire. The Lore of the Genies Chapter One: The Power to Rival the Gods... Ooh! That gives me chills. Naxus giggled, that heartless smirk creeping across his face as he read.
