The one thing Ive had time to remember about Larry Himmel, was the rare local early-evening TV success he had with the 3 & a half year, 5-day-a-week run of the San Diego At Large series in the 80s, something that with all of the syndicated shows being relied upon, would NEVER happen on ANY local TV station, today. The first year of San Diego At Large, which was actually a spin-off of Larrys successful KFMB TV News feature At Large With Larry Himmel, was the best, with Larry and an ensemble of both local Actos and new reporters, the stand-outs being Veteran 1950s KFMB News Anchor Ray Wilson, whos old delivery style found a entire new audience as the shows Narrator; Kathy Stanton, who delivered crisp, Erma Bombeck style commentaries; the double talking guy who was right out from the Radio shows of the 30s 40s and 50s; and the most successful segment, The Adventures of Biff & Skippy starring Larry as Biff and local Comic Rick Rockwell as Skippy, who went on the greater fame/infamy as the Millionaire on the very short-lived Fox series, Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?? As a tribute to Larry, someone posted an episode of Biff & Skippy on Youtube, while not the best of them (I forgot how terrible the actress who played their roommate Andrea was!), is a nice slice of History as well as a tribute to a local TV fave, the likes of which we will never see again... https://youtube/watch?v=mZjz0G5Xbeg
