The one thing that most people can agree on is that vomiting is no fun at all. If you are reading this while eating, this point is probably made clearer since you would rather not want to discuss regurgitating partially digested food as you currently chew. The smell of the food combined with the stomach acid that joins it propelling out of the same place people speak, kiss, and enjoy tasty treats with is nearly enough to cause others to empty the contents of their stomach as well. Are you feeling sick yet? God uses this same imagery when He instructs His people concerning the behavior which was causing the inhabitants of the land they would be entering to be evicted forcefully from their homeland. ‘Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
