The online marketer today is not the same as the marketer even 5 years ago. We must be fast to implement, integrate, and innovate. Today, we must be quick to adapt. We must be ready to make a sudden change. We must accept that what worked yesterday may not work today. We must realize competition is fierce, and being the same as everyone else will not work. Early adapters will be rewarded, but must refocus when that marketing medium becomes saturated, which will happen quickly. Anything easy will catch on fast regardless of the cost. In a noisy world, we cant expect to be noticed. We have to demand to be noticed. And we do this through value. Pay attention. Even online, we are building relationships that will drive our business for years to come. While the consumer wants instant gratification, the online marketer will find themselves required to be patient and willing to create valuable engagement that will keep the consumer coming back until they are ready to do business. The online consumer is smarter, savvier, and has more data. They know how to research a business, product, or service provider and in seconds see everything that has been said online. If they Google the name and dont find it, the online marketer can be quickly disqualified. The online consumer has the control and the online marketer has the challenge of proving they know more about a subject matter than the consumer who feels they already know it all, because of the access to internet information. The online marketer has only a moment, a blink really to capture the attention of the consumer. And then the online marketer has the challenge of keeping their attention until they reach the final destination.. the checkout (or registration). Times are changing. Become Relevant on the web, or risk extinction.
