“The only thing I regret is writing that harsh review of (the late) Yasmin Ahmad’s film in 2006, Gubra. I’ve been called a ‘rudimentalist’ because of that. I met her years later, just a few months before her passing, and made amends with her. We debated about it, and I told her I wished that I’d never written the review, and that I could’ve just told her why I was unhappy with the film,” Faisal says with genuine remorse. “Writers must not be afraid of admitting it when we’ve made a mistake,” Faisal says. “For example, I used to be against non-Muslims using the word ‘Allah’, but as I studied deeper, I have realised the error in my judgment. There’s nothing wrong for non-Muslims to use the word ‘Allah’ if done so without ill will. And I would be glad to make my stance clear.” - See more at: theantdaily/Main/It-s-not-sensational-it-s-just-human-rights#sthash.gAwrYk1R.dpuf
