The opening of my upcoming novella! (unedited) The cool, salty winds of the Sea of Crete ruffled through the young soldier long, blond hair as he stood staring out over the high stone wall into the dark waters in the distant. The bright alabaster moon reflected down upon the surf below wavering and swaying with the waves as if its doppelganger self was dancing across the mortal world below. A smile crossed the soldiers face as he enjoyed the serenity of the moment. Most of the soldiers hated the night watch, and preferred daytime duties of the city; manning the gates or market place, being hired on as guards to battle highwaymen and pirates for the caravans and merchant ships paid well. But not for Davos. He preferred the night, enjoyed its stillness and the comfort he found in the darks embrace. As often as his Commander allowed him he took the others night patrols.
