Hello from mud-ville. Remember that snow I decided I didnt need - TopicsExpress

Hello from mud-ville. Remember that snow I decided I didnt need to blade off? It was a good idea..... well, no it was not now that I look at the canals I now have for a driveway, maybe I should have cleaned the snow off. The drive we have is only about half rocked and after this winter, even that section will need more rock. The non rock section we can now only use when its frozen so we leave the Jeep parked on solid ground. It could dig its way in and out just fine but I decided that I didnt need anymore of a mess. I am on the dump truck guys list for when it gets solid enough for him to even get in without sinking. Those trucks are heavy. I also have a little landscaping to do before gravel so it will probably be next spring before I get ready for gravel. Dont get things done too fast...... my poor wife. Day light savings time. Being retired and not caring about keeping a schedule, I dont see the value in DST. Didnt make a big whoop to me when I was working so, I think I will not change the clocks until The Commander makes me. Id like to see how long she goes before she notices so, please, help me out, ssshhhhh, dont tell her. Be our little secret. I am doing a few spring things like, I stopped for my spring haircut and even shaved that day. Looked pretty sharp. Ive purchased a few seeds and started some inside last week. I maybe should have started them a week or two earlier but when I looked out at the cold and snow I had the feeling that I should wait a bit and I know they will still have time to get going good before the outside season starts. Oh I have a few seeds I will plant out in the garden maybe this week if I can find soil dry enough. Turnips and root crops and then I wanted to plant broccoli and cauliflower from seed. Probably should have started those way back in January but, what the heck Ill give seed planting a try because, unless I want to drop a load of cash at the greenhouse for plants I wont be able to grow any. They did it that way in the old days for kripes sakes. Im at the point that I dont know a lot about gardening and wont learn unless I try new things and, it will only cost me a buck or two so it really is cheap learning. I would like to have my seed taters and onion bulbs ready to go but my supplier said they are having trucking issues and taters wont be in until a week from this Wednesday. The shop owner seems to hate gubbmint (understandably) and blames every little thing on some new regulation. Blamed not having North Dakota seed taters on some new trucking regulation that I quizzed a moment upon. I said do you think that the largest oil boom in North Dakota history might have something to do with the lack of truckers? I mean, wouldnt you rather stay in your home state and haul something that pays more steady than taters? He scratched his chin and said, you know, you could be right. I figured he just didnt want to argue... Ill have the ground ready for their arrival and will plant a few peas the same day. Sounds like the ol man better get his work britches on. (those were getting a mite tight last time I wore them) I want to make a few raised beds and think I can get away with using logs from our trees for the sides. I like the idea of re-using things if I can and I have some logs pushed up in a pile, cut to clear a path for the power line. I really didnt want to hack my trees down but am to old to go without juice so I figured I would use the wood the best way I can so as not to waste. Ive seen logs used for raised beds so I figured the worst that can happen is I end up burning the wood anyway so, I figured I have the time..... Well, looky there, I wasted a bunch of your time again. Remember, change your clock....or dont. shrug have a good week! e; )
