Not pretty, as usual.} With dreary predictability, GPs’ leaders have raised objections to David Cameron’s hugely welcome plan to restore that most basic mark of a civilised society – the right to see a family doctor at any time, morning to evening, seven days a week. Have they forgotten that this was a service on which we could all rely until ten years ago, when Labour catastrophically redrafted their contracts? Under that appalling deal for patients and taxpayers, Britain’s family doctors became among the world’s best paid, while being handed the right to opt out of working in the evenings and at weekends
