The other day I called my brother to see how he’s doing. We started sharing about God and family. I became excited, my heart was pounding and the fire in me started burning. To other Christian families, fellowship and sharing with family is just an everyday thing. To me, fellowship with a friend or brethren is one thing but fellowship with a brother, a sister or a nephew is something else. Once upon a time, my brother almost had everything. A great house in Alabang, a good business, and lots of money. At a blink of an eye, he lost everything. Very recently he just had a six artery bypass operation and might undergo another operation to take out a small cyst in his colon. Talk about luck. The thing that made me admire him even more was how my brother took all this supposedly “bad things” and turned it to something great and honored God. Losing everything, his house, his business and his money made him turn to God. The bypass operation gave him great faith and learned that God is able. Now my brother knows great humility and is dependent on God. 1 Samuel 2:8 He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes and has them inherit a throne of honor. For the foundations of the earth are the LORDs; on them he has set the world.
