The other day I posted on kirkcameron/2013/11/pray-saeed-abedini/#Ymf4lY0BQdfBukKM.01: “Saeed could have easily been released if he only denounced his love and faith for our Lord but he chose not to so he is in Gods hands and will be given everlasting life with Jesus. May we all be so righteous in the face of death of our mortal self. Gods reward is not in this life but in eternity with Him.” Then this morning in church we turned to 2 Maccabees 7:1-2, 9-14: “It happened that seven brothers with their mother were arrested and tortured with whips and scourges by the king, to force them to eat pork in violation of Gods law. One of the brothers, speaking for the others, said: What do you expect to achieve by questioning us? We are ready to die rather than transgress the laws of our ancestors. At the point of death he said: You accursed fiend, you are depriving us of this present life, but the King of the world will raise us up to live again forever. It is for his laws that we are dying. After him the third suffered their cruel sport. He put out his tongue at once when told to do so, and bravely held out his hands, as he spoke these noble words: It was from Heaven that I received these; for the sake of his laws I disdain them; from him I hope to receive them again. Even the king and his attendants marveled at the young mans courage, because he regarded his sufferings as nothing. After he had died, they tortured and maltreated the fourth brother in the same way. When he was near death, he said, It is my choice to die at the hands of men with the hope God gives of being raised up by him; but for you, there will be no resurrection to life. Is not Pastor Saeed Abedini like those brothers? But who of us would change places with Saeed? Who of us would only want people to pray for our release? Who of us would rather keep God’s world in mind and pray to Him to make the Earth as it is in Heaven as promised and return His Son, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior, to Earth in our lifetimes or as soon as possible thereafter to end all suffering and injustice? Pastor Saeed Abedini is the current example of love and devotion to our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus, that we all should display knowing that we, as Saeed, are in God’s hands and carrying out what God has commanded of us so we too, like Saeed, be filled with the Holy Spirit and though our bodies be tormented as Saeed’s has been, our and his Spirit will live forever. Can any of us ask for more of anyone, and why don’t we ask that of ourselves rather than pray for Pastor Saeed Abedini’s mortal self be saved when it is his Spirit that has found salvation in Christ. I pray that Saeed’s light be the Light of Christ in the deepest, darkest, dungeons in Iran with the worst of criminals in man’s eyes so that they may be saved through Saeed’s sacrifice as we all who have accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, have been saved by Christ’s sacrifice for ALL our sins.
