The other day Raquel and I went to Cafe Rio for lunch. I had enough vouchers for 2 free meals, so I figured it was time to cash them in. As we were sitting there eating, 2 officers walked in and got in line. I had no idea who they were, dont ever remember meeting them before. I figured our meal was free, theirs should be too. The cashier was very sneaky, and they had no idea until they went to pay, that it was already paid for. They still have no idea who paid for it. It was priceless as they tried to be casual looking around as to who may have bought their meal. Some lady and her daughter? Psh...no.... However Im not posting this for an atta girl. Im posting because that feeling is truly euphoric. Its almost a selfish feeling, because it feels so good doing something nice for someone that does so much for us. It wasnt much, but enough for them to feel a little appreciated. I know first hand how hard officers have it, how thankless the job is, how most people dont want them around, until it hits the fan. The emotional and physical abuse they all take, yet every day they strap on that bullet proof vest, that uniform, and that badge to protect people. To protect YOU, reading this. My officer friends are like family, and they really are some of the best people I know. So Im encouraging you guys to do something nice for our officers, not just today, or just this week, or this holiday season, but when you can, or when the opportunity presents itself. Lunch, a drink, a gift certificate, even just a hand shake and a Thank You. There are a LOT of good cops out there, and they need to feel appreciated for what they do. And on a side note. They wont eat anything home made, unwrapped, unknown, or potentially tampered with, because.....well, their cops. :)
