The other day someone was swapping stories with me about our “busy schedules”, work, hobbies, and life in general. I told them about my family’s business adventures and got the typical “Wow... really?” response. I realized something... To other people my family and my life in general is pretty damn weird... and that’s ok! For 12 years on many weekends we’ve been traveling the Northwest (and now Canada!) like a gypsy caravan, mostly in the summer but recently it’s been any time of the year. I spend more time driving in one summer than most people do the entire year. I live in a tent or out of a suitcase all summer long, going from place to place. But we have an amazing group of individuals we get to visit with on the road, and they are as close to me as my own family! In an age where people are more and more disconnected we are CONSTANTLY in each other’s business, we can be fighting one minute and teasing each other (playfully) the next, and somehow we never really get sick of one another. The rest of us are there to pick someone up when they fall, and we celebrate every triumph like its the best thing thats ever happened! I wouldn’t trade my hectic, crazy, stressful, and amazing experience living and working in a family business for anything!! It’s made me who I am today, I am not perfect but I work hard, play hard, and have learned so much! I am surrounded by fantastic people, and even though I am really truly crazy busy, I am happy!!
