The other evening, I reserved, & paid for a DVD, thru the online, Redbox app. I arrived at the kiosk, & touched the screen on pick up...nothing. Hmmm, thought perhaps I could touch another option, & it would respond...still nothing. Well, I was irritated, but figured, no biggie really, wasnt all that excited about watching another below average, predictable film. Well, I made a point to remember the customer service number, so I could let them know I was unable to pick up my rental, & also let them know a technician was needed to service the machine. First thing...apparently Redbox has farmed out customer service to India... I ended up speaking to someone claiming his name was Sam. (Im fairly sure that wasnt short for Samuel.) Next, after going thru my life history, Sam explains, for my trouble, theyre going to make sure I continue using Redbox... Wow, Im thinking to myself, Im really not overly upset or disappointed, but hey, take care of your customers... Youd not believe how committed to satisfaction, Sam was/is! Proudly, he proclaimed, because we know you are disappointed, for your trouble, were going to issue, to you, by way of email...wait for it...a credit to rent any DVD! WOWZERS! Really, Sam? For MY troubles & disappointment, youre going to issue me a credit, equal to the amount of money I just gave you, while receiving nothing in return? Seriously bro, super-dee-duper glad youre wearing your arm out, patting yourself on the back. Not that I wanted, or expected anything additionally, but am I the only one who can remember a day when that was known as REFUNDING your money, because the product, youd already paid for, was unavailable? (as opposed to somehow pretending to do me a solid?)
