The other post was removed after a friend was giving us heck for asking the finder to follow the law! I have offered via PM and was more or less told it wasnt any on my business!! We all want the same thing here, but as you see in her post she is wanting to either find the owner OR A NEW HOME!! So dont come on here spouting at us!! I did download the picture AND send it to AC with her info. But it is the law that she get her scanned for a chip and a found dog report filed!! When this post gets removed Ill just post the downloaded version I have to do what it takes to get this dog home! ** Copied directly from Section 5-37 of the new South Bend Animal Control Ordinance: Sec. 5~37 Notification of Lost or Stray Animals Required. (a} Persons finding a stray animal are to notify the Division of Animal Care and Control within 24 hours (or within the next business day}. At the discretion of the Division. the animal may be kept by the finder and a found report left with the department, to enable the finder an opportunity to return the animal to its rightful owner. (b) Upon demand by the Division of Animal Care and Control, any found animal will be surrendered to the Division and held for three (3) business days, before a disposition is made. (c) Persons finding an animal are obligated to comply with all rules and regulations of this Chapter pertaining to humane care and treatment of animals, while said animal is in their custody awaitihg return to its actual owner. (d) With the exception of the SBACC, the finder will be considered the found animals owner for the purposes of this Chapter only after the animal is in the finders custody for fifteen (15) continuous days and has been presented for microchip scanning. ****BOTTOM LINE: (a) Gives you the option to hold the animal yourself or turn over to AC. You still have to file a found report/scan for a chip w/in 24 hrs/next business day. (b) Only applies to AC. (c) Simply requires you to provide proper care for the animal while you have it. (d) If you followed the guidelines in (a), after 15 days the animal is considered yours. Amber OBrien added 3 new photos. Anyone lose or know of someone who lost a dog near Rum Village in South Bend?
