The outcome was ZERO! Got out under the Lesner to the last set of channel markers & POW! lower end unit on the port motor blows. Got back to Crab Creek, pulled it out & straight over to Daves Marine in Portsmouth by 8 a.m. Got a call @ 12 noon your boats ready. This is why I go there. Cheap labor & if they can fix it while your standing there its back out the door. Heres the kicker, 3 weeks ago I pulled both props & pulled braid out from around each motor. good thinking I told myself. When Daves pulled the prop of the blown lower unit it had @ least 150 yards of braid around it & BLEW THE SEAL! Got home & pulled the othe prop & MORE BRAID AROUND IT also. Heres my thoughts & suggestion for ALL OUTBOARD OWNERS. Start pulling your prop (s) after each trip or you might suffer the EXPENSIVE consequences. It takes two minutes. With the sky rocketing popularity of braided line & because it FLOATS It is all over the inlets & the bay & bridges from breakoffs etc. Almost all the guys fishing from the rail @ Rudee use heavy braid to get their rigs back. (had a 1/2 day charter to the tower last friday out of Rudee, ummmmm!) If you dont I think there is going to be an epidemic of lower units paying the price. You can bet Ill be pulling after each trip from now on.
