The parasitic North? It always irk me whenever I hear the unfair generalization that northerners are parasites feeding fat on the toils of others. The unfounded narration always appear lame and choking. It goes this, petrol money is what the north feed fat on while they lazy around doing nothing. Now lets even go elementary, does the petroleum product that come from the oil rich Delta abound free for the northern users? In fair judgement, PMS cost more in the north than the rest of the states. I may be wrong, which I know I am not! The allocation that come from the sale of oil does not directly service the north. The allottees are usually the very few who control the resources of the north. These monies are shared amongst the few parasitic elites. Were the resources to be judiciously used, the embarrassing high level of illiteracy would not have been an indicator in the index of development. The choking menace of poverty would not have been there in the first place. For the avoidance of doubt nothing works in the north, and for the ones that seem to have life are the manifestations of individual efforts. Education or health is not free in the north. Like the rest of the country, we pay for almost everything except perhaps the air we breath. Rather than give us your blanket generalization of laziness, shift your stereotypic lens to our elites who corner the so called allocation that comes from the oil money. It doesnt anyway get to the commonest of the people. Dont judge the lifestyles of northern leaders as same template of their people. Just like you, we only get to see them on TV. We have no connection except that they dubiously represent us at the alter of national sharing. Have it that we are very much united in the oppression by our leaders. The northern elites are harmonious neighbors to your southern leaders. They attend the same clubs, swim in the same pool of affluence and marry themselves while They sell the dummy to us that we are the problem unto ourselves. Have it that South-North-West and East is nothing but a mere geographical nomenclature. As we are united in poverty so they are united in intimate wealth and comfort. The Mai ruwa northerner is closer to you that your revered senator because he provides you your needs almost at the snap of your finger. Same way your Igbo trader is your closest neighbor as he provide you with the groceries that you cant afford at Exclusive store or Sahad. I advise,rather than building your muscles in beating the drum of what divides us why not water your mind by echoing what bind us together . The undeniable reality is that no section of this nation can do without the other. We are eternally glued together in unity and progress . If South Sudan a people united in one tribal hegemony can end up eating themselves needlessly then a separated Nigeria would usher in more tears, sorrow and blood. As for me and my household, we are better off as Nigerians that your offensive call for division.
