The past month has consumed me with DJ, watching him lay down and in such horrible pain and looking for something to make the decision easier on me and him, well 3 days ago another abscess, or maybe the same one, blew out on the side of his hoof at the hair line again. This time its draining thick puss and with each passing day DJ remarkably is standing more and walking better, and turning back into his sassy self. I want to thank all of you that have said prayers, and sent best wishes to us. I can now breathe, sleep, and not feel so sad and cry every single day. He is going to be okay! Today we had the Dr. apt. I got to the farm early to clean his hoof up....went in to get him and he walks away, didnt want to be caught, sassy boy! Weve also noticed he got wise to us cleaning his hoof while he was laying down, lately we cant catch him down, he gets up right away!. Anyways, once I did catch him, he actually allowed me to lift his leg and clean out his hoof with the hospital plate on! So I get him out of the round pen and head to the trailer and he totally refuses to load in the horse trailer~! ohhhh boyyyy yes indeed he is getting back to himself. Finally get him loaded, the farrier took the shoe off, removed the big wedge and put a pad in place of it. He said there was a lot of new growth on the hoof with the plate on. I was soooo happy. I walked him in the grass by the clinic and he was walking his normal speed and doing great, the farrier was watching and asked me how he seemed and I said WONDERFUL! I do have to tell you, my daughter Alysha Kaminski did these pictures as a farewell for DJ & I, the colored yarns in his mane were to resemble the Rainbow Bridge I truly believed the worst was to come. I will save these wonderful photos and add more from time to time and this just isnt his time right now.
