The past week has been quite busy so Ill try to run through it. The third round of chemotherapy was last Wednesday followed by a dose of Neulasta on Thursday. Neulasta is given to me to help increase my white blood cell counts after chemo. It really works but the side effects are a bit painful. Long bone (legs, arms and sternum) pain that lasts about a week but a small price to pay to be able to go out in public after chemo. Meghan came in from Florida on Thursday as well, AND THEN...I had my first round of radiation Thursday night about 7:30 pm. Maggie Drake Holmes baby shower was Saturday and Meghans Baby Sprinkle was Sunday. In between all of that we had family and friends over to play with baby Gabriel and Hadley. I must say, babies are GREAT medicine. I undergo the final radiation on my shoulder tomorrow evening with great hopes that the cancer in that area will be eradicated and the pain will be removed. What I really wanted to tell you about was the unbelievably kind and generous women that attended Megs sprinkle on Sunday. They include school mates of Meghan and Katies from Dunham and the Academy. After the party was over, Meghan, Katie and I were given gifts from all of the girls. A collection of laminated scripture verses and prayer cards beautifully decorated and held together with a satin ribbon. Each one contributed their own verses and let us know that they hoped the cards would uplift us in our prayer time. In addition, I received a soft hand crocheted prayer shawl made by Mindy Tyler McCollister with additional attached prayer cards and messages from each of the girls as well as Meghan and Katie. Meghan was given a generous and thoughtful gift of a Southwest airlines voucher to be used whenever she needs to fly home to see her mama. Perry and I could hardly sleep Sunday night for thinking how precious these women are to our family. We thought about how each of you have busy lives, jobs, and babies of your own, and yet you care so much to offer such generous and time consuming gifts to us. I just want each of you to know- Maggie Drake Holmes, Holly Williams Everett, Grace Jones Byrd, Brittney Wallace Smith, Ashley Kleinpeter Misko, Emily Bardwell Guillory, Kristen Ramey Adams, Heather Keenan Miller, Rita Yaun Goodrich, Mindy Tyler McCollister, Meghan Parrino Carmichael, and Katie Parrino Guitreau -you have touched our family in a deep and profound way. I drape myself in the warm prayer shawl and feel the prayers of you and all the saints that are lifting me up as I walk through this adventure. God has shown himself faithful through you and I am honored that you each are friends of our family.
