The people close to you hurt you the most. We are all familiar with this quote. And the reality of this saying is only true because its common sense! Like duh! We wouldnt be hurt by people we dont know. So, of course, people close to you will hurt you the most. We are vulnerable with people weve invested time, secrets, money, sorrow, joy, and frustrations with. They have seen us at our best and our worst. When they fail us, we hurt. A stranger doesnt affect us because there is no emotional attachment. We hurt people and people hurt us because it is in our nature to fail one another. However, it should be in our nature to forgive one another when we hurt each other. I believe the lack of forgiveness comes from when we place our total trust in man and even unintentionally placed them on a pedestal. As if they can do us no wrong. Its not until we get closer to God and true revelation comes when He Himself tells us: It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. (Psalms 118:8) Its not that God doesnt want us to trust in one another, but He wants us to understand that we are mere human with a weak frame and only He is perfect to NEVER FAIL US! If you never want to feel hurt then Id say never allow yourself to be vulnerable to another human being. But that will be such a lonely life. Just ask God for revelation. And put God first and everything else will follow.
