The person I am referring to is my mechanic and his wife, yes, he did get coverage, he has arthritis, very bad, 55 yrs old, had been going to doc for yrs, paid out of pocket, about 4,ooo a yr, wife had a small policy that covered her basic women test and yearly check up. I know you can get coverage, but after hiring a navigator to help them , cause they could not believe it was for real, they are not denied, it just does not cover the arthritis, or any thing related to it. The wifes policy was cancelled, unless they added labor and delivery, baby wellness check ups, and a few other things they did not need or want. His doc is not in the network so he had to change and the new doc, on his policy, does not accept records from old doc, so he had to go thru and pay out of pocket for complete physical. My point was, with the new policy, his deductible is 12,000, 4,000 pres, he had to change doc, travel one and a half hrs to get to the new doc, because he lives in a rural area, when he was paying 4,000 a yr, for doc and pres, out of pocket, something he was ok with. Now he will still be paying the 4,000 a yr because his deductible is so high, but he will have to pay over 7oo.00 a mth for his insurance on top of it. The navigator told them ,that if he has a heart attack or stroke, the insurance will pay, unless they determine that it was brought on by his preexisting condition. Just because they can not turn you down for preexisting conditions, saying you have insurance, does not bring a warm and fuzzy feeling to so far, 2 of my friends. This does not affect me at all, tyj, Publix has a great policy, but it affects people I care about, I must ask myself, what would I do if I was in this situation? I worry about how it will affect my children, the goal of life should be to put you in a better spot, if you are doing everything right, not to make it harder for you, this all true, these are real people, hard working people, do not need a another bill to pay, and this one will be taxed.
