The phone calls from teachers started in 9th grade. Connors not - TopicsExpress

The phone calls from teachers started in 9th grade. Connors not doing his labs or homework. We tried all the usual methods to try to get him to do his school work, and finally I just said let him fail the course and learn the hard way. But Connor always did amazing on the regents and passed the class. In 11th grade he refused to drop SUPA Economics even though he hated it. It was too psycologized for him and I guess he wanted to sit there everyday to remind the teacher how he thought everything they were learning was wrong. He didnt do one thing in that class, yet wanted me to sign a permission slip to I think it was Darien Lake. I said are you kidding me, youre not going! He failed the class and took Economics his senior year and loved it. He texted me one morning from school and said he needed to buy Apple shares before the market opened that day. His teacher said they were going to split the other day and he forgot to do it. So of course I go get him and drive him to Scottrade and let him invest his entire savings into Apple stock, but thats another story. Also at the end of his junior year, I got the call that Connor didnt have enough labs completed to sit for the Physics AP exam. By his senior year, Im completely stressed out. He had to maintain a certain GPA to receive the scholarship from St. Rose but he kept saying, Mom, dont worry, I got this. Three days before graduation, I get the last call. No! Were so close! Poor Mrs. Greenman. Connor didnt show up to give his presentation to the class and wasnt doing his homework. Is he going to pass the class? At this point thats all I cared about. When she said yes, I almost shouted with joy. But I contained myself as she said she would recommend in-school suspension for the following day. Sure no problem, I said. Then the main office called to tell me that Connor hadnt shown up for other classes as well. I raced home and there he was playing Game Cube. I said, so whats going on? I cant believe they called you! he said. Why did you skip Calc? Hes like, well, I didnt have anything to say, so instead of everyone being bored, I thought Mrs. Greenman would have to find something for them to do if I didnt show up. Apparently with all the senior pranks going off, the asst. principal never talked to Connor about his in school suspension, so he showed up for the kickball game planned for that day of Calc. And I bet the little shit played, too!
