The power of waving hello: Almost every morning and every afternoon, as I head off to work or head home, I wave to a gentleman who likes to hang out on his driveway. This morning, when I woke up, I found that my dog had gone on an unauthorized excursion without leaving a planned return time or even telling me where she was going (Im certain that you parents out there can relate... Im certain that mine can.) As I was making the rounds trying to find her, I stopped to speak to him and let him know that my dog was missing and gave him a description of her and gave him my phone number. Wouldnt you know it, he is retired and thought that a good use of his day would be helping me find her (he didnt tell me this when I spoke with him this morning.) Just a few minutes ago, he called and told me that he had located her. (She is now safe at home, desperately in need of a bath--that will happen later today.) I am grateful for his kindness in looking for the dog of the guy who waves hi to him every morning. Had I not done that, I dont know if he would have been so eager to help--or he may have. But Ill still continue to wave, and maybe even stop to say hi every once in a while.
