In May, 10 members of Congress sent letters to the NFL, FedEx (one of the Redskins’ primary sponsors) and Dan Snyder and the 31 other NFL owners, urging them to change the name. The Oneida Indian Nation is running radio spots in the DC area this week, protesting the name. And in what may one day be considered the tipping point in this protest, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King, detailed last week why he would stop using the word “Redskins” in his writing.
