The pride of fighting for transformation of reality imposed on us. Less than 24 hours after completion of Marijuana March and absolutely none of the main pages of the major online portals in Brazil still affects the march, which took thousands of people to the streets of St. Paul on Saturday afternoon, June 8. Approved by the Supreme Court since 2011 to preserve the freedom of expression of the protesters, the march is a social movement that is increasingly gaining national prominence. The demonstrations and discussion groups promoted by the organizers encourage a discussion of unique relevance. However, the disappearance of the March of the headlines of the mainstream media reflects a bias: if on the one hand, the struggle for a new drug policy grows and takes shape, on the other hand, the conservative forces of society join efforts to undermine any progress in level of discussion. The "Folha de S. Paul "is a striking example of this attitude. The printed edition of the newspaper on Sunday made a clear choice: firmly relied on figures provided by the Military Police, of which about a thousand people were at the rally, putting the information in your headline. The two newspaper columns reserved for the impact of the March - which represents less than 1/4 of a page - cited the number of 10 thousand people present at the demonstration, estimated by the organization. The information, however, was nearly hidden in the text. The most important issue is not even the number of people present - even taking into account that the estimate of the Military Police does anyone who was Saturday at Avenida Paulista to laugh - but the clear option editorial in dealing with numbers : give the smallest possible importance to the movement. The "Estado" did not leave for less. Still in the early afternoon of Saturday, when the weather in March was totally quiet, published the following report: "Marijuana March has vinegar against tear gas." And, amazingly, the news did not speak of clashes between protesters and police, but only had a few students took vinegar according to the risk of a melee. The publication of the mosque, thus consolidating some of the more numerous handling standards of the mainstream media: to give air war protests, approaching the figure of the protester the person of the troublemaker and criminalize social movements. If nothing else the hard way to walk through the construction of a new drug policy, emphasizing the debate and participation by the Marijuana March is more a series of tough hurdles to overcome in pursuit of their goals, among which stand out conservatism and prejudice. But the first weapon to beat them was exacerbated in the screaming, the costumes and the music that packed the March São Paulo in 2013: pride. The pride of fighting for transformation of reality imposed on us.
