How the situation stands today, as we see it: * Pamir Highway is accessible for those who already have a GBAO permit. However, GBAO permits are not being handed out anywhere. Last week Dushanbe was still giving GBAO permits, but they have suspended it, at least for this week. * The road from Osh to China via Irkeshtam Pass has been blocked by protesters since 27th of May. How long the blockade will last, is unknown. It is unclear how the situation will evolve. Improvisation skills, luck, stress tolerance and a good back-up plan will be key for successful Silk Road travelers in the coming months. All feedback on changes is welcome.
