The primary responsibility of any government is to protect the lives and Properties of the citizenry not minding where they reside. Our security forces are expected to work in line with dis mandate. But the recent reactionary measure of blocking the suburb (Nyanya side) to Abuja Downtown leave everyone in doubt on their ability to discharge their duty professionally. 1. The terrorists bomb was detonated at the suburb (Nyanya), yet the military blocked Kubau which lies between Nyanya-Downtown Abuja. 2. No road block for commuters returning to Nyanya axis means only people at the downtown Abuja are protected by the security forces. 3. Thousands of cars lining up daily for checking may pose a big security threat to commuters with resultant consequences. 4. Motorists spend 3hrs minnimum for a distance of 9km We are all aware that physical examination of cars has never yielded any tangible result for the security forces. I suggest that the security forces use mordern technologies to fight the insurgents. We also need to intensify intelligence gathering towards revealing the motives of the criminals and handle them accordingly. And urge communities to assist security forces in discharging their duties.
