The process that this article outlines is going on now. 16 states through their state legislatures of the thirty-four needed to call for a federal constitutional convention have already approved a resolution that calls for a constitutional amendment that would reform and allow the congress or states to control campaign spending on a federal and state level. Many states including Washington have voter initiative drives ongoing to put a resolution for their particular state before the voters of the state. Citizen initiative drives are required in these states because their legislatures are controlled by conservatives who are blocking these resolutions. In the WA legislature the resolution has been repeatedly blocked by the Republican controlled Senate, and more specifically, by Senator Pam Roach whose committee must approve it before it can go to a full vote of the State Senate. The initiative signature drive in WA is called I-1329. Most polls show overwhelming support for the concept of controlling or eliminating money in politics. So the trick is getting it on the ballot here and elsewhere since the politicians in Olympia and other state capitols obvious arent really representing the will of the people of their states on the issue of money in politics and corporations are people, money is free speech. Which is the abomination left us by the Supreme Court. More on the I-1329 signature drive here in WA can be found at WAmend. Which is in dire need of people to help collect signatures since the deadline for turning them in is the end of June and I think they still need approximately 150,000 people to sign a petition. Most citizens will sign, but it takes time since the issue usually requires a convoluted explanation like this one for the average citizen to understand what their signing. #CorporationsAreNotPeople #MoveToAmend
