The prolonged street protest on the part of the rubber plantation farmers had repercussions on the economy in tourism and related businesses. In the process, people and business groups were unwittingly set against one another over private interests. The movement in Korat agreed to disperse in consideration of the government offer. The rally at Surat went on to press its demand. All the deputy prime ministers had been called upon to deal with the situation but to no avail. The protesters made an counter offer of Bt.101 as gasinst the govcernment offer at Bt.80. The issue would then be brought up for deliberation at the raw rubber policy committee to arrive at a decision.
