Every year the County Executive proposes a budget, and every year the Legislature amends and adopts the budget. Todays predictions are fodder for tomorrows budget needs. It is true, however, that in voting yes to Prop. 4 on this years ballot, you will be giving up the right to vote on one of YOUR employees. Instead, the Comptroller will hire and employ the Treasurer. The Treasurer controls the money. The Comptroller audits the books. Do you want the person controlling the money working for the person auditing the books? If so, vote yes. If you think this is an invitation to corruption and a recipe for financial shenanigans, then you MUST VOTE NO TO PROP 4.
