The protestors chanted for dead cops, and now there are two. Yes, horror befell my hometown today as two NYPD officers were killed in cold blood- assassinated, at close range, with head shots- and everything points to this as the end result of all the anti-cop rage that has been on display for weeks. There are instagram and twitter postings that suggest the suspect- who killed himself after murdering the officers- did this explicitly in revenge for Michael Brown and Eric Garner. The posts havent been officially confirmed, but who wants to place bets they were real? None of this is surprising. I remember last weekend when thousands of protestors in NYC were chanting what do we want? dead cops! and hands up! shoot back! Below is a video: https://youtube/watch?v=dj4ARsxrZh8 Around 4PM, I watched the parade of thousands walking up 6th avenue, shouting about killer cops and racist cops and lynchings by cop and all the rest of it. And I knew then this day would come, it was only a matter of time. When messages of hate are given credibility and amplified by the Mayor of New York as well as the Attorney General and the President himself- the consequences are tragic, as we saw today. The police knew something like this was coming. It was just last week that NYPD representatives told Mayor DeBlasio that he wouldnt be welcome at the funeral of any murdered cops. And the mayor shouldnt be. He is a coward and a panderer. Same should be true for Obama and Holder. Their presence at the funerals of these NYPD officers should be denied. They both fanned the flames of anti-cop rage and have been completely disrespectful to law enforcement for months. Today should never have happened. It is a tragedy for the families of the officers killed, for the NYPD, and the City of New York. But let us not for one minute forget that some of us have been shouting for weeks- for months in fact- that the constant race baiting, and anti-cop agitating, would result in viciousness and tragedy. Though the perpetrator is already dead, the shame extends much further than that one deranged individual. There is an ideology behind this, a movement. And it is time we push back against it, and refuse to let the lies and incitement continue unchallenged. #CopsLivesMatter
