The purpose of an elected MP is to represent their voters in Parliament, and to debate issues and laws in Parliament. Instead of allowing them to do this important job, the elected MPs (especially those from the opposition) are bogged down with town council issues. This makes them unable to perform their duty properly, to be a check against any abuse of power by the Government. Laws are pushed through Parliament without proper discussion and debates. I hope to see a change to the current practice, which is bad for the future of our country.
