The purpose of prayer is not to persuade God to eliminate all my human weaknesses! The Lord has never made any promise to do so. Prayer CANNOT eliminate the weakness of flesh because flesh itself IS the weakness. In me, that is in my flesh dwelleth NO GOOD thing (Rom7:18). Prayer enables me to walk in the Spirit and not in flesh (Rom 8:1-14). If I walk in the Spirit, I will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Gal 5:16). Walking in the Spirit does not eradicate wrong lusts from me, but though prayer God will give me the strength to overcome my weakness (flesh).
