The railway budget seems sane and sensible, except for the bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. I mean, Rs 60,000 crore for a train that will carry just 15,000 people daily? What a waste! It would have been better spent on those poor toiling millions of passengers who travel standing for 90 minutes or more in Mumbais suburban trains in inhuman conditions that the World Bank calls, Super Dense Crush Load. Still, I am happy to see that this is not another ridiculous budget with vanity projects that announce a hundred trains to the politicians native village.
