The rainy day forced me to finally tackle the endless sea of storage boxes stuffed into my storage shed. After unclogging my waterfall gutters in the cold rain, I trudged out to the shed and brought a few boxes inside. Made a pot of hot coffee, threw some logs in the fireplace, put on some dry sweat pants, and got down to the tedious task of sorting, sifting, tossing, reboxing. How I hate this kind of thing. Fortunately it doesnt rain much here, so my gutters can stay clogged and all those boxes can stay stacked. But not today. Inside one box was an old lightweight backpack I havent used in years. I was about to stuff it back into the box, but on a whim, thought Id check all the pockets and compartments. Found train ticket stubs, cough drops, ink pen. Tattered folded map of Western Europe. One zippered compartment had a suspicious lump. Inside was an under-the-clothes money pouch I used to use when traveling overseas. Havent used that old pouch for so long, Id totally forgotten about it. Inside was 1290 Euros. Actually, Im starting to like this rainy day sorting thing.
