The real crisis of socialism is that it remains in the past in its thinking about mass social movements and revolutionary social change. It is dogmatic, stubborn, authoritarian, self-righteous, and unwilling to change. It has not taken into account the change in the makeup of the working class, is wedded to European-American/white social advancement, are an academic aristocracy as the capitalist economic schools of thoought, are unwilling to combat racism or raise the demands of workers of color, and are totally trapped in electoral politics instead of radical social change from the bottom up. Of course, there is the radical wing, of communists and Left Anarchists, which claims to be beyond all this and have unshakeable truth and all-seeing and all knowing leadership, but I include them in this critique as well. None of them appear incapable of free and unfettered thinking, except for the worst type of political opportunism, skullduggery, or dogmatic approach of Russian Bolshevism. They itch to run the firing squads in the next regime with them in charge, and are less concerned about freedom for the people. We will not empower these forces again in this period.
