The reason for the season... I remember each Christmas Eve as a child, seeing gifts wrapped under the Christmas tree and reading on the colorful labels, “To John from Santa”. I believed they were my gifts but they remained “untouchable” until Christmas day, just a few sleepy hours away when I would finally rush to the tree to receive “my gifts”. And so it was with Gods greatest gift of his Son. I wanted to “believe”, but like my childhood Christmas eves, He remained “untouchable”. Then, years later, I finally woke up from the darkness of my spiritual slumber and rushed to His Tree - the Cross, to “receive” Gods greatest gift of every Christmas season, peace with God on earth as a child of His. “I” was the reason for the season; to become a child of the King. John 1:11-14 (NIV) 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. May you celebrate the discovery of your most precious gift under His Christmas Tree. - Pastor John
