The reason we should all be involved: About a month ago we got a message about a senior dog in need Dee Dee who had little hope of being adopted due to her age. By a little networking we were able to find a wonderful rescue to take Dee Dee (now Dixie) into their home to place her. A lot of little things fell into place where people donated a little time and effort such as a collar, a crate, a ride to her new foster home etc. Then another miracle happens. Dixies rescuer gets a call from a previous adopter who starts to tell him about her friend and neighbor who lost her Pom, Baxter and how shes so depressed that she wont eat and all she does is cry. And Dixies foster realizes I have the dog for her....told them, Ill be there tomorrow afternoon. I arrived, and Margaret, the grieving 91 yr old, just starts smiling and crying when she sees Dixie. Dixie, within minutes made herself at home and took her place in Margarets lap. Such a perfect little lady with another wonderful lady. Margaret is amazing at 91, she lives alone with a caregiver that visits 5 days a week and neighbors that visit every day. She takes at least 4 walks a day and now shell be doing it with Dixie. I would say this is a pretty terrific ending for both of these ladies! Just one more happy reason why we should always get involved.
