The recycling center at the Safeway at Church and Market is closing down. A few days ago, Safeway served the recycling center with a 30-day notice to vacate. This is positive news for the neighborhood, which has seen significant negative impacts including enormous amounts of recycling theft. Individuals can still redeem recyclables at grocery stores, but it will now be much harder for organized criminal enterprises to do so. I support this long overdue change.
