The relevant part of the letter written by General Walls to the British Prime Minister of the time, Mrs Thatcher. There was a discussion here about that infamous election of 1980. Plus there are numerous comments on the undesirable state of affairs in Zimbabwe. This letter is genuine, it was published here before methinks. The point to be made is this: Gen Walls has passed away. Zimbabwe, which was established as a direct consequence of that 1980 election, has now been around for more than 30 years. Whatever one may think of General Walls, and one may argue, like I do, that he was naive in the first place to trust the promise made by Lord Carington (and Mrs Thatcher it seems) and agree to the Commonwealth-supervised election election process, - but he was 100% right with what he said in his letter. And the British government must take full responsibility for Zimbabwe and everything that happened when they ignored his plea. As they so obviously must have done. Id just like to rub this in.
