The response to my post on trials was so good, I though I would add a few more thoughts. It is through suffering, trials, and sorrow that God refines us. There is just something about our Adamic nature that keeps us from having an insatiable desire to be holy. I know very few people who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Very few have a passion to be holy. They have let the world convince them that you can go too far, or dont go off the deep end. God doesnt expect you to be perfect. (I dont know where they get this idea). But I have seen trials and tribulations change peoples minds. Trials dont always bring lost people to the Lord, but quite often trials bring Gods people to where they ought to be. Trials get our attention. Trials generate questions. Trials make us look at ourselves and when we ask why? we begin to find the answer: we need a closer relationship with Christ. So please remember this: trials prove that God loves you and wants to burn the dross out of your life so that your witness will shine like refined gold.
