The result of these elections will determine whether Greece will stop being treated as a guinea pig, as a passive recipient of the destructive effects of extreme neoliberal policies and it will claim for large changes in the agenda at European level. Furthermore the elections result will determine whether the dominant policy of extreme austerity and strict financial discipline currently applied in the EU will fail and be replaced by the principles that initially called for Europe’s political union, namely solidarity, social justice and human dignity... Nowadays even mainstream economists claim that austerity policies are not only socially cruel, but they are also ineffective, caging the countries in the debt trap and leaving them in political deadlock...
