The sad saga of Donald Sterling, Shelley Sterling, and the Los - TopicsExpress

The sad saga of Donald Sterling, Shelley Sterling, and the Los Angeles Clippers is about to end. There is little doubt that the man is ignorant, and that his comments about race and HIV were reprehensible. There is also little doubt that the NBA owners are going to take action to ensure that no member of the Sterling family will have even a scintilla of control or financial interest in the organization. Donald Sterling seems to believe he can convince his colleagues to let him stay in the NBA club. Whether bargaining or persuasion is his tool of choice, or litigation, most experts believe he would have little chance of success. The NBA is a private club, and if you violate its rules, essentially you can be kicked out. Moreover, while we all hope that the other NBA owners are equally disgusted by their fellow club member’s comments, we need not even look that far. The NBA club is made up of businessmen. You need a lot of wealth to buy a franchise, and you don’t accumulate that kind of money by being a bad or dumb businessman. And Donald Sterling is bad for business. The foregoing is strictly my opinion. What do you think?
